Secret Santa Poem 2008

Can you hear the Disney tunes coming from her door?
She is truly a great head representative of our floor.

With cheer and bliss at Christmastime as finals do arrive
Her smile will bring her tons of work alive.

I wish to you joy as the new year comes near
You'll start it off great switching to be a mechanical engineer.

Secret Santa Poem 2009

Twas the night before finals, when all throughout the floor
Not an engineer was sleeping, not even John Kim the Dementor.
With empty luggages to tend and so many things to comprehend,
Everyone hoped that finals would soon come to an end.

The children of Harvard were nestled in their beds,
With visions of their future MIT bosses dancing in their heads.
While we, with notes in our hands, and books in our laps,
Have yet to settle our brains for a long winter's nap.

When out from the floor lounge there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the floor lounge I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear?
But a white pumpkin carriage, and seven tiny half-dwarf reindeer.

With an Oregonian driver of 20 one one, a leader in the IM committee,
I knew in a moment that it must be Micki.
More rapid than hawks her coursers they came,
And she whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Sneezy! now Sleepy! now Dopey and Doc!
On Happy! on Bashful! on Grumpy and Matt!?
To the top of the dome! To the top of the Prudential!
Now pick away! climb away! hack away all!"

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down through the rabbit hole she came with a bound.

She was dressed all in red, from hood to cape,
And her clothes were soiled but still in good shape.
With bundle of Disney souvenirs she had flung on her back,
She looked like she went to the Magic Kingdom and just got back.

Her eyes - how they twinkled! her freckles - how merry!
Her cheeks were like roses, her nose like a cherry!
Her smiling mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the rest of her skin was as white as the snow.

The wad of chewed paper she held tight in her teeth,
This one she had been chewing for weeks.
She had ginger red hair, and a brain full of might,
That zipped through her psets, and always got them right!

She was organized and neat, this right jolly girl of 223C,
And I thought to myself, how human could this girl be?!
A wink of her eye and a twist of her head,
Soon gave me to know, for finals, I had nothing to dread.

She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
And slipped in a "Magical" DVD, then turned with a jerk.
And laid down her pack beside a pile of 'A's,
She had so much fun in Disneyland that she had not slept for days!

But even still, she jumped onto the couch, and her team followed suit,
And while the feature presentation was en route.
I heard her exclaim, before she dove out of sight,
"Psh, who needs to study, when Wall-E will serve you right?

You should come join me and turn off the light!"

Secret Santa Poem 2010

Thou hast the most
Fantastical taste
In cinema

And comes quite close
To making a small
Child-like image

Thou loves a lot
The nobility
But one comes first

She lives in an
Aquatic home with
Gleaming ruby tress

Please do enjoy
Gifts of royalty
While studying
